About this audiobook

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Baxter Family novels and “inspirational fiction superstar” (Publishers Weekly) presents this high stakes love story of danger, passion, and faith.

She was a child caught in a riptide in the Caribbean Sea. He was a teenager from the East Coast on vacation with his family. He dove in to save her, and that single terrifying moment changed both of their lives forever.

Ten years later Jack Ryder is a daring undercover agent with the FBI and Eliza Lawrence still lives on that pristine island. She’s an untainted princess in a kingdom of darkness and evil, on the brink of a forced marriage with a dangerous neighboring drug lord, a marriage arranged by her father. This time when Jack and Eliza meet, there’s a connection neither of them can explain. Both of their lives are on the line, and once again, the stakes are deadly high.

Can they join forces in a complicated and dangerous mission, pretending to have a breathtaking love…without really falling? Sometimes miracles happen not once, but twice…along a distant shore.

Too much of everything. There is nothing real in this story.
Even though I am absolutely against human trafficking and would love to see every trafficker in prison, this whole charade is just to much. And too little. But never real. Too many coincidences.
I will not listen to this author again.

Excellent Audio & Book. So needed! We’ll written and narrated. Could not stop listening and getting so caught up in a story that is a so heartbreaking reality. The scriptures fit each chapter .
Loved the ending. Justice, Restoration, Redemption , Salvation and peace and joy in the Lord. Loved the Happy ending . but Even helps us to remember to keep praying for victims who are still out there. God is so loving and faithful and Sovereign. The victory is ours because we serve a Mighty God. Thank You Jesus! Thank you Karen and all those who helped you with this book.

It was interesting story. I hate human trafficking so it really touched a chord for me. I was really frustrated with the technique of the male narrator. I felt he lacked fluidity in reading as he paused at odd places in sentences.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did! Karen Kingsbury's stories are always filled to the brim with emotion, tugging on my heartstrings all the way through. This book is no exception, yet it is different from what she normally writes as the subject of sex trafficking is the prominent theme.

At first, it seemed as though any type of connection between Jack and Eliza would be difficult to achieve as they both have deep emotional scars that they have hidden for much of their lives. I was so relieved that Eliza did not just rush into her rescuer's arms and they lived happily ever after. No, there was a lot of healing and trust that needed to occur first before they could pursue their attraction to each other, and believe me...there's no question about their chemistry!

If you have the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version rather than reading it in print, I highly recommend it! There are two different narrators - one male, one female - each telling the story from Jack and Eliza's point of view. In my opinion, it really helped to flesh out their connection to each other. It's also the first time I've listened to an audiobook with this format, and I wish more books featured it!

Fans of Karen Kingsbury should love this newest release from her, but I caution anyone that may be uncomfortable with the subject line as it is difficult to read for some audiences.

So different from her usual stories but so beautifully written. Loved the main character male But found female a bit advanced considering she'd been locked in isolation for so long. Godly story

Tough read at times. This book got me thinking about an organization called Hope For Justice. They help in rescuing children plus give them a home. They give them counseling as well.

I felt that it started out amazing, but somehow along the way it lost some of that earlier depth.
