About this audiobook
Zephyr, Alabama, is an idyllic hometown for eleven-year-old Cory Mackenson—a place where monsters swim the river deep and friends are forever. Then, one cold spring morning, Cory and his father witness a car plunge into a lake—and a desperate rescue attempt brings his father face-to-face with a terrible vision of death that will haunt him forever.
As Cory struggles to understand his father’s pain, his eyes are slowly opened to the forces of good and evil that are manifested in Zephyr. From an ancient, mystical woman who can hear the dead and bewitch the living, to a violent clan of moonshiners, Cory must confront the secrets that hide in the shadows of his hometown—for his father’s sanity and his own life hang in the balance.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Linda. Un poco tediosa por el excesivo gusto del autor por sobre describir cosas simples. Eso la hizo larga
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5With this being now my 8th time reading and or listening to this....it is STILL and will ALWAYS be my favorite piece of American Literature EVER! The tale of Corey Mackenson and the people of Zephyr Alambama in the 1960's is a story to be savored and cherished!! If there is not something in this book that does NOT touch anyone that reads it....something is wrong. This book has been given by me for a gift MORE than any other book ever.....and I am in my 60's. PHENOMENAL read! And if you have not read it....do it now!
Highly recommended and it will always be.
Richard - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A remarkable view of the world from inside a young boy's head. I enjoyed the mix off adventure, intrigue and magic.
