About this audiobook
Secrets. Lies. Super-bad choices. Witchcraft. This is Our Crooked Hearts, a darkly gripping contemporary fantasy from Melissa Albert, the New York Times bestselling author of The Hazel Wood
“A riveting story that grips you like a spell until you’re too deep to emerge unscathed.” —Angeline Boulley, author of Firekeeper’s Daughter
"Galvin and Cannon deftly narrate this atmospheric, twisting tale from the perspectives of Ivy and Dana respectively. Galvin’s youthful performance has just enough of an edge for the innocent yet sensible Ivy and her strained relationship with her mother. Cannon’s rich, at times rough-around-the-edges Dana perfectly encompasses both her guarded youth and her haunted but hopeful woman."- Booklist on Our Crooked Hearts
The suburbs, right now . . .
Seventeen-year-old Ivy’s summer break kicks off with an accident, a punishment, and a mystery: a stranger whose appearance in the middle of the road, in the middle of the night, heralds a string of increasingly unsettling events. As the days pass, Ivy grapples with eerie offerings, corroded memories, and a secret she’s always known—that there's more to her mother than meets the eye.
The city, back then . . .
Dana has always been perceptive. And the summer she turns sixteen, with the help of her best friend and an ambitious older girl, her gifts bloom into a heady fling with the supernatural. As the trio’s aspirations darken, they find themselves speeding toward a violent breaking point.
Years after it began, Ivy and Dana's shared story will come down to a reckoning among a daughter, a mother, and the dark forces they never should’ve messed with.

Editor's Note
Mind-bending…
Beginning with a naked stranger in the middle of a dark road, 17-year-old Ivy experiences a string of odd and unsettling encounters. In alternating chapters, 16-year-old Dana (Ivy’s mother) becomes entangled with a mysterious girl that changes her life, and by extension Ivy’s, forever. Albert’s YA fantasy thriller explores mother-daughter relationships and the choices of our past. Called “riveting, creepy, and utterly bewitching” by Kirkus Reviews, “Our Crooked Hearts” is a mind-bending YA novel full of tantalizing darkness and intrigue.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is dark, intriguing, complicated and beautiful. The mystery was perfection.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrators were great. It was the story itself that was lacklustre and seemed to drag.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Im halfway through it and while the story is very interesting the narrator makes it really hard to understand when the mom’s voice comes in. Because she makes it a deeper, hoarse tone, it doesn’t sound clear and every time I have to crank up the volume to try and understand what she’s saying which ends up impacting the story. Every time the mom comes up I notice my attention drifting away because I can’t fully comprehend what is being said.
