About this audiobook
The fourth hilarious story about Splat the Cat, the irresistible character from Rob Scotton, bestselling creator of Russell the Sheep
It’s Halloween and Splat is determined to be the scariest cat in the class. Unfortunately he's just too much of a scaredy-cat. He's afraid of a little spider, and everyone says his costume looks more silly than scary. And when the teacher tells a ghost story in the dark, Splat gets so frightened that he tips over his pumpkin jack-o-lantern. But when the lights go back on, the entire class is scared silly by a small, black furry creature with a big pumpkin head. Whoooo could it be?

Reviews for Scaredy-Cat, Splat

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute and silly., a perfect choice for a cat loving preschooler during Halloween,
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Rob Scotton - creator of the Splat the Cat series, as well as the Russell the Sheep books - is turning out to be another one of those hit-or-miss authors for me. After a largely indifferent reaction to the initial Splat title (Splat the Cat), but moderate enjoyment of the second two (Love, Splat and Merry Christmas, Splat), I was curious to see what I would make of this, the fourth installment of our intrepid feline hero's adventures. Unfortunately, it turns out that Scaredy-Cat, Splat! falls into the indifferent category. The story of Splat's efforts to win the prize for being the scariest cat at Halloween, it features the same mad-cap antics and fuzzily cute illustrations as the other books. But somehow, the whole thing just fell flat for me. It's not that there was anything wrong with it, from either a textual or artistic standpoint, it just wasn't very interesting. I confess that I'm disappointed, not least because, having now liked two Splat books, and been indifferent to two, I'm inevitably going to have to take a look at the next one, if for no other reason that to break the "tie." Why on earth do I do this to myself...?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Back in 2008, Splat the cat burst onto the scene with his first adventure. Since that time he has fallen in love and enjoyed a Merry Christmas. Now, Splat is ready to celebrate Halloween and wishing to be the scarriest cat at the school party. Can he do it?! With his ever present mouse friend Seymour and wise advice from his mom, Splat heads off to school determined to scare.
Scotton's latest Splat adventure is begging to be read aloud with all the enthusiasm and dramatics befitting this funny feline. This is a welcome addition to Halloween titles, suitable for preschool through 1st grade.
The tale is told supported by Scotton's own adorable wide eyed illustrations, that will illicit giggles and grins. Couple this with Boo to you! by Lois Ehlert for some gentle halloween fun for little ones. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The storyline is adorable and the pictures are "squee." What's the deal with the mouse, though? Is Seymour an invisible friend?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is about a cat that finds a spider and tells his mom that he is scared of spiders. He decides to dress up as a spider for halloween. He goes to school and thinks he is scary but his friends are not scared of spiders like he is. His teacher reads a halloween book and splat gets so scared that the class names him scaredy cat splat. This books is a great holiday book to read to young students. I enjoyed this book alot.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am a big Splat fan so it wasn't hard to sell me on Scotton's latest Splat adventure. I love his gullible, quirky, innocent cat character with his companion Seymour the mouse. Truly, the illustrations are my favorite. They are fun, lovable and comical. I've grown quite a fan-base for Splat at our school library!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Scaredy-Cat, Splat was our first experience with the adorable kitty known as Splat. Since reading this we’ve also added Merry Christmas, Splat to our children’s book collection. My daughters absolutely adore both. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve read Scaredy-Cat, Splat since it arrived on our doorstep. A fun story that encourages child interaction and provokes out of control giggling. Super cute illustrations that feature Splat and his friends. This is a great book to share with children ages 8 and younger. Bonus points for containing a story I fondly remember my teachers reading to me during the Halloween season when I was a child. Our family loves Splat, and we look forward to having many more reading adventures with him!
