About this audiobook

A warm, feel-good, enemies-to-lovers, lesbian romance about chasing your dreams—wherever they might lead.

Powerful venture capitalist Claire Pressley is done with stressful New York and has set her sights on a "treechange"—renovating a homestead in Eagle Cove, Oregon, to make a gorgeous guesthouse.

Her plan isn't quite so simple when it turns out Eagle Cove's beloved town librarian Ruby Jordan had been saving to buy the homestead herself. Worse, Ruby had some grand, beautiful dream to turn it into an animal shelter.

Claire couldn't look more like a villain in her new town if she tried. Now she has to find a way to make peace with the locals, as Ruby furiously works out a Plan B for her animal shelter.

But even as the hot-headed women keep clashing, it's hard not to notice their sizzling chemistry, and how attractive they find each other.

It seems unlikely they'll even manage to be friends at this rate. And being more than friends . . . that would be just ridiculous! Right?

Contains mature themes.

Author

A.L. Brooks

A.L. Brooks currently resides in London, although over the years she has lived in places as far afield as Aberdeen and Australia. She works 9-5 in corporate financial systems and spends many a lunchtime in the gym attempting to achieve some semblance of those firm abs she likes to write about so much. And then promptly negates all that with a couple of glasses of red wine and half a slab of dark chocolate in the evenings. When not writing she likes doing a bit of Latin dancing, cooking, travelling both at home and abroad, reading lots of other writers' les-fic, and listening to mellow jazz.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be an absolutely delightful slow burn romance between two women who had been previously deeply hurt in previous relationships. The engaging and wounded main characters struggle to find the courage to risk their hearts when they may have found the real thing in each other. Set in a small mountain town in Oregon, this well-written book offers a lovely small town romance with low angst.

    Heartwarming, sexy story
I really liked this audiobook. The narrator was new to me but very good. The story had some non-American flavors, but not too many. There were more extended intimate scenes than I had expected. I'm not sure how much they were needed. I would rather a bit more time had been spent on conversations and them spending time together. I really enjoyed how they took time developing their relationship and figuring out what they each wanted. I loved seeing Claire finding her place in Eagle Cove and how Ruby realized her dream. I loved the animals but wanted more time with them. And dogs didn't really factor in to the story much, which made me sad as I am a dog person rather than a cat person, but the donkey was great, and goats are always welcome!

Absolutely delightful slow burn romance between two women who had been previously deeply hurt in previous relationships and had to learn to trust again before they could both give and accept love again.

Engaging, but wounded main characters struggle to find the courage to risk their hearts when they may have found the real thing in each other. Very slow burn with intriguing family and friends in a small mountain town in Oregon. Well written, as usual, from AL Brooks; good narration.
