- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5TThis audiobook around chapter 29 starts to skip around a lot in circles back two or three chapters later so it becomes hard to follow the story is funny and entertaining once you get past this point the chapters in the broccoli while dialogue is still being spoken

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty enjoyable but our protagonist has the smarts of a 3 year old. Prepare to cradle your head and sigh.

Great story flow. Fun and enjoyable, always wanting a little more.
Each book is a little short though; could really have every two books be one. But there's enough of them and more coming out I believe.
I love the dual sets of books as well. Following 2 different groups in the world is intriguing. It's always fun when one references an event the other is involved in too; though that isn't often.
I'd put the series in my top 5 that I've listened to over the last 10 months (which is about 100 books..)
If you like LitRPG, check out Dungeon Crawler Carl and He Who Fights With Monsters as well. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I won't lie, when I heard Neil's voice as narrator I was both excited and sad. Excited, because I absolutely love most of the character voices in his arsonal, sad because the last (and first book) is listened to him narrate was a LitRPG that didn't seem to know how to tell a story without 70% of it being Stat readouts. PTSD kicked in, haha, but thankfully this book is nothing like that.
Onto the book review. So, this is a LitRPG in a saturated genre, but it has such a flair that it stands out. There is no repetitive Stat read outs, no bombardment of system prompts and notifications to constantly be read, instead we get these as an added value to go with a STORY, and a good story it is. Each chapter builds well upon the last and are laid out just right to give you a great sense of progression, while not rushing headlong to the end. The characters are well done, very colorful in their personalities, and add a great sense of depth to the world we find ourselves in. I will say, if you're okay with an MC who just keeps getting stronger, then grab this gem and run, but if that's not your cup of tea, you may find yourself scoffing at the gains he makes on the journey. I will say, the gains and OP sense of things that is the MC, does not take from the story, but instead adds an element of joy.
In the end, if you want a great story, wonderful characters, an adventure filled world, and the elements of a beautiful LitRPG, give this a go.
P.s. You'll probably get addicted and find yourself binge listening to the books back to back (I mean, there are currently 11) and find joy and a desire for more with each one (I'm on book 6 as of writing this). - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Took me a but to get into the story, but it got better almost right towards the end ?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5He seems to be lucky and good in combat but stupid in conversation and reading between the lines. The book is funny but short for a litrpg book. I wouldn't buy it on audible at that length.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was better than I expected. World building is done well.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Best litRPG book ever for me! It turned out to be the nicest series as well. Hope to see another 20 audiobooks from the Good Guys. The best voice actor also.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Like the story, the characters, the writing style, the humor and the narrator. A must read for any LitRPG fans!
Even the stats talk is not to annoying and does not get abused by the author to add lines to the book.
I am looking forward for the rest of the story! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/54 stars
I’d heard lots of good things about this series, so I decided to dive in and see what I thought for myself. I love a good redemption story and this one worked very well, as the less then nice Montana, drug dealer, loan shark and thug decides to take his new lease on life and change paths from bad guy to good. I loved the RPG mechanics and stats I loved the RPG mechanics and stats but the thing that impressed me most was the humor not being forced or juvenile. I’m looking forward to starting book 2 in the series. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Another litrpg another difficult review. Eric Ugland's story takes a different tack than most, inserting a colorful character with a shady past into a game world rather than the geek du jour. I had high hopes that the lead's desire for a peaceful life to re-start would take us in interesting directions. Sadly with a few minor exceptions the output was pretty boilerplate. "I don't want to be a hero," became code for a false modesty as our protagonist quickly gained unbalanced abilities and worked miracles. The result is an average undertaking.
If you adore litrpg you will probably like this. If you are like me and roll your eyes everytime someone busts out their character sheet, skip it.
