About this audiobook

Taylor is a laid-back, smart-aleck kind of lawman. He's also a man's man, as well as every woman's private fantasy. But years ago, he was part of a botched hostage situation that ended with him being hailed as a tough-as-nails hero-even though the pain, fear, and shame from that terrible day still haunt his every moment.

Cara Evans couldn't care less about Taylor's pain. In the moment he became a so-called hero, she lost someone she dearly loved. Yet neither of them is prepared for the instant, undeniable attraction that flares between them-or the danger that's soon hot on their heels.

Cara Evans has moved to Sugarland in order to find Detective Taylor Kayne and make him pay for the death of her sister when he mishandled a hostage situation in Los Angeles. Taylor has been suffering with delayed PTSD from that very same incident that caused him to relocate to Sugarland. When Cara meets Taylor for the first time, and sees the way that he cares about the people that he serves including a homeless boy named Blake, she starts to question the information she was given about the way her sister died.
The major conflict in this book between the two main characters at the beginning of the story was settled much more quickly than it should have been, and some of the dialogue was over-dramatic, making the suspense that is finally developed near the end of the story, too little too late. The two main characters are likable enough, but overall, this is a fairly average romantic suspense with very little to make it stand out.
