This prequel to the Allie’s War series was a gift, a very generous gift, donated by the author through LibraryThing. The series may be considered an urban fantasy but this book spoke more to me of a man who has much to contend with after having been secluded for five years in a monastic existence then being thrust into a military situation with a commando type group he has never seen or worked with before. The writing is superb, the characters well developed and the story complete while leaving me wanting to know more about each one of the characters in the book.
