About this audiobook
Self-assured and carefree Princess Svetlanka Volkonsky never dreamed she would one day become a lady's maid to avoid a dangerous traitor. But danger also comes in many guises, especially in the sinful and devastatingly attractive lord of the manor who introduces her to a world of singular pleasure.
When Lana's past emerges to threaten the life and the false identity she's built in England, she and Gray find themselves falling into a tangled web of lies and intrigue . . . and the last place either of them expected to fall . . . in love.
Contains mature themes.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Ugh. Something went terribly wrong with this one. So sad. I was looking forward to Gray and Lana’s story after reading book 1, which I really enjoyed a lot. The first 30-40% of the book delivered and then it just took a massive dive. Nothing happened until the last 15% which was okay but not repayment for the miserable middle. I actually thought this is one of the worst books I read and I read a ton of regency romance and not all great. You’d think two authors could have come up with some fun things for hero and heroine to do and get to know each other and fall in love. They barely learn about each other and authors stick to a lot of inner monologue about lust and love and how they can never be together instead of developing the relationship somehow. Tons of mawkish inter monologue. Very overdrawn out secrets. Ugh Ugh Ugh! Gray’s inability to decipher Lana’s station was so incredibly unbelievable. it wouldn’t have ruined the story if he had figured it out much earlier and they had gone on a merry chase to save her sister instead of sitting around waiting for word that never seemed to come. Some of the decisions were also really stupid. We all see, including the hero, that the bad guy may know where Lana is and even Irina they still do absolutely nothing. The authors also could have used the housekeeper as a better villain. It is like the whole thing stalled interminably for about 30-40% of the book (middle to near end) and I ended up fast forwarding most of it. I don’t know what to advise. It is nice to see the end of their story and I like Gray — Lana is bit tedious. If you don’t have to pay for it, listen to the first part, skim the next 30-35% and listen to the end.
