About this audiobook
When the fallout from an unfortunate public encounter throws the two of them together, Alison has no interest in becoming the Prince's next conquest. But as the weeks pass, Alison discovers there's more to Anthony than she-or he-realized, and their dislike becomes friendship, and then something more-until disaster drives Alison away, swearing never to return.
Then Alison is summoned by the Queen again, this time to serve as Royal Librarian. A threat to Tremontane's government, with her treasured Library at stake, draws Alison into the conflict . . . and into contact with Anthony once more. Can they work together to save the Royal Library and Tremontane? And can she open her heart to love again?
Melissa McShane
Melissa McShane is the author of the novels of Tremontane, beginning with SERVANT OF THE CROWN, the Extraordinaries series beginning with BURNING BRIGHT, the Last Oracle series beginning with THE BOOK OF SECRETS, and COMPANY OF STRANGERS, first in the series of the same title. She lives in Utah with her husband, four children, one niece, and three very needy cats. She wrote reviews and critical essays for many years before turning to fiction, which is much more fun than anyone ought to be allowed to have.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Nope, still don't like romance.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Hmmm it's always good revisiting an old friend, even if the old friend just happens to be a book you probably just read a few months ago.
I'm always left a little crushed when a good book like this ends. I love Alison and Anthony's relationship even though I'm not sure if I could've forgiven Anthony. I would've probably ended up a bitter old wrench.
I'm hopeful for Zara's new life even though I feel bad for the loss of her kingdom. I also think she would've made a great mother. Overall a literary masterpiece. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I wanted to like this, but it really, really needed an editor. If it had one, I don't know what to say. I couldn't concentrate on the story because I was editing in my head--the sentences are long and unwieldy, and the descriptions are just...too much. IMHO. A lot of people love this book, so it may just be me, but it read painfully like an early draft that needs tightening up.
