About this audiobook

On May 15, 1975, teenager Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida. From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity, and a new life in the midst of the gang's base on the edge of the Florida Everglades-a frightening, rough, and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival. And at the center of it all is the gang's leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying, and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender.

So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows. Precocious and intelligent but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity. Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive-or get out at all?

Contains mature themes.

I didn't know what to expect with this but it certainly wasn't anything to do with what actually happened.

I was intrigued from the start, who is Grit and why is he being executed. Instantly hooked. Especially with how Ginny was brought into Grits motorbike lifestyle. Then the story started to become a bit of long winded journey. Nothing seemed to happen but everything did at the same time? We constantly had scenes of Grit been too brutal for Ginny to stomach and then they would make up and move on.

Ginny as much as she's described as mature and older than her age, I think she definitely showed her age of 15 numerous times. The whole situation with her age and her relationship with Grit made me unsure and I battled with myself on this throughout. Up until the end we didn't really learn much about Grit and I also think we needed to learn more about Grunt before the reveal at the end because it just felt chucked together abit.

    Definitely a different biker romance.

Nine Minutes was an unexpected book for me. Nothing like my typical reading. Surprising, intriguing and consuming. I normally lean towards contemporary romance/erotic reading. Not bothered by much. This book does deal with violence, so if you are all hearts and flowers = Not for You. There is described, not in detail but enough to make you cringe, violence implied such as rape and murder. However, this isn't the driver in the story, it's more of the way for the author to get you in the head of the characters and their motivation. She delivers plot turns and twists but not unbelievable. At the end, I didn't want to believe the outcome. Very anxious for the next book. This could be read as a single stand alone, but I dare you not to want to know what happens next. #TeamGrizz #GrizzLives

Nine Minutes is told from the perspective of Kit, a fifteen year old with the mentality and maturity of someone in their twenties, she's been kidnapped by one of the scariest biker gangs (I hate calling them gangs, they're truly called clubs) in South Florida and she's happy with them. She's the obsession of biker leader Grizz, a much older, handsome man with a scary past and a not so kosher career path. Kit used to be known as Ginny and she's always been used to taking care of herself, but when she ends up with Satan's Army she finds compassion, companionship, and even love. While she's never truly comfortable with everything going on, it becomes her life until circumstances pull her away from it. I will not give that part away, but let's just say the first chapter will hook you in and you won't be able to get off the bike.

I loved and hated Kit at first, I was completely torn about who she was as a person. Starting the book with her past caught me off guard and it's what kept me around. Watching this not happy story bloom to love, even with the many twists, is what made this book amazing. Beth Flynn successfully tells a dark, disturbing story that easily could of been a story we see on the news on any given day. Flynn develops all the characters, even the most minor, in a way that you cannot forget them. She didn't stray from the gory details and gave every character an individual strength and background. The book read as one complete story beginning to end, leaving a few questions that don't require answers. Fortunately, this is only book one in a trilogy and you can start answering some of those questions in book two if you're interested.

There were definitely things I didn't like, though, and that is why I had to give this four stars. The writing is not the best, but it is certainly better than most books I have read in the "free read" category. Additionally, I couldn't fathom why Kit never took the opportunity to run, not even a single true attempt. I get she had a background, but I think some major details were left out that would've explained why she ended up accepting the life so easily. I hate love triangles, have I mentioned I absolutely hate love triangles? Especially love triangles between a much older man, a young teenager, and another love teenager, all in the midst of a kidnapping story. I read on anyways though and I am glad I did, you learn to see Grizz really loved Kit back and the kidnapping story became less important to me.

I read this book after a friend sent her copy over from her book club and recommended it. I delayed reading it for a couple months, because the plot just didn't pull me in. It was too dark for me, too realistic, and I had a hard time believing in the love story that was promised. It's there though and it's a love story worth reading and believing in. I would recommend this ten times over, and if I could have it in a TV show on HBO I would. I liked it so much I bought the follow up novel, even though I'm supposed to be on a "don't buy any more books until you finish some" path.

This book sucked me in from page one...
I was captivated by the plot and intrigued by the mystery.

It was a dark, gritty read about finding love in all the wrong places. A girl is abducted and doesn't realize it at the time, but the love she receives while being abducted is greater than any love her family ever gave her. She is scared at first, but slowly becomes comfortable with her new identity/life.

Grizz, her captor is and has been obsessed for years. He is a dangerous man with many secrets. He is part of a gang and commits crimes daily. Kit or Gin tries to block out the bad parts and embrace the good. He is compassionate towards her and will do whatever it takes to make her happy, sometimes though, he crosses the line.

I quickly became obsessed with this book. It was hard for me to put it down once I started. I loved all of the characters, but Grunt was definitely one of my favorites. Even though he was a background character, he shined. His love poured through the pages. I wanted him to sweep Kit away and for them to start a life of there own. However, Grizz was also an equally appealing character in some sick way. Yeah, he was dark and edgy, with a bad attitude, but he cared for Kit and protected her with everything he had.

I wasn't expecting the ending and my heart hurt in so many ways. It was a tear jerker with an HEA. It worked... and I can't wait for the next book!

I highly recommend this one to all readers that are okay with a darker read.

10 stars! Yaaaassss! I have been waiting all year for a book with this level of fuckedupness. Just awesomess. I can't even stand it. Fan-freaking-tastic. I was entertained. Was it perfect, no...but that's why I liked it. It had a raw honesty to it. I have massive love for this story and it's going to stick with me a while.
