Cara Putman is the author of more than twenty-five legal thrillers, historical romances, and romantic suspense novels. She has won or been a finalist for honors including the ACFW Book of the Year and the Christian Retailing’s BEST Award. Cara graduated high school at sixteen, college at twenty, completed her law degree at twenty-seven, and recently received her MBA. If the God of the universe couldn't be bothered by what happened to one young man who died an unseen death, how could she matter? Either everyone mattered or nobody did...It was in the process of uncovering the heart of a person's story that a case came to life.A wrongful death case against the US government could either advance or ruin Hayden's career as an attorney. And with this case on her hands, it doesn't seem like the best time for her to be meeting Andrew, the son of a US congressman. As the implications of the case become increasingly ominous, Hayden may have to choose between pursuing justice and saving her own life in Beyond Justice, a novel by author Cara Putman.Reading the introductory novella of this series, Dying for Love, put me in anticipation of reading this legal/romantic suspense novel. It addresses the issue of illegal immigration in the US and has a clear message of the value of human life, as well as a rather mild romance and a strong faith thread woven through the book.While I appreciated the novel's message, the overall story didn't really grip me. My interest waned in several places, and sometimes I felt the contemplative parts were overdoing it. The characters' (particularly Hayden's) thoughts seemed to belabor certain points, ask the same questions, or ask questions that were too obvious. And though the main characters were likable, they didn't have that extra "oomph" to me, something key that would have me especially intrigued or impressed.Still, I've little doubt that this faith-filled romantic suspense tale will be right up the alley of a number of ChristFic readers.________________BookLook Bloggers provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

I just love this author's books. They are always written with such intricate knowledge of the subject and the story comes alive with realism. I loved the subject of immigration and how the author gave details of what someone goes through to come to the United States. Sometimes people get lost in the red tape and this leads us to a non stop action filled story that keeps readers on the edge of their seat. Hayden has just won a case that everyone said she couldn't win. She is tough as nails and I love her compassion for her clients . When she receives a new case, things don't add up for her. It seems every time she tries to get answers , she is stopped, scared away or lied to. Why did a young boy die while in a detention center? His mother believes he was killed and the government was involved. Can you imagine taking on the government and accusing them of killing a young boy who just wanted to have a better life? I did like Anderson and thought he was perfect for Hayden. Anderson has his own problems with a father who has his eyes set on a more powerful influence in the political world. Does Andrew support his father's political views? I did like that Andrew worked with helping immigrants and how that intertwines with Hayden's battle to find justice for a young boy and his family. The author has strong characters that are determined to fight for what they believe in. There is some very intense scenes that bring this story to a high caliber thriller. I loved the faith that several characters had and never deterred from it even in the midst of danger. Will Hayden find the answers she needs before more people die? Get ready for a book that is filled with lies, secrets, drugs and a story that delivers a powerful ending. I received a copy of this book from The Fiction Guild. The review is my own opinion.

Hayden McCarthy has just set a major career step in a Washington D.C. law firm by winning an unwinnable case. She's handed a new case, challenging at first sight. It's a case without a clear context. A Mexican drugs cartel, a candidate senator looking for influence, and a woman with a murdered son.Unknown forces are trying to kill the case and the main characters in this plot. Who would kill an attorney? Will Hayden find out soon enough whether or not her legal theory is worth filing? Cara Putman's own legal firm background is the inspiration for a lively, realistic narrative.Not only is Hayden's personal faith in God in action. She sees the awakening of a deeper relationship with Andrew, a congressman's son, and cartoonist as well. When her roommate and Andrew are the next victims, it's time to hurry up. Beyond Justice is well-written, and convincing.

Hot off a big courtroom win, up-and- coming lawyer Hayden McCarthy is tapped for a clandestine,high priority case. The more questions Hayden asks, the more threats, death,oddities at the law firm, and other strange coincidences surround the bizarre case. Beyond Justice is a very fast paced legal thriller by Cara Putman. The characters, whether Miguel,whom the reader sees for only moments, or Mrs. Rodriguez, Andrew, Emilie,Jorge, and Hayden;are all so believable in their fear,faith, and actions.I especially liked the tenacity I saw in characters. Each of the above players in this drama holds onto what he/she feels each is called to do,regardless of the cost.And costly it is. Jobs, hidden secrets, security, safety, even life itself. Nothing is sacred to el jefe,who is determined to recover damaging information.I thought Director Snowden well-named,although "Snowdem" might have been even better!Good writing often includes quotables. A few: "Anywhere there is a void, evil likes to take a foothold.”"If only her butterflies would fly in formation."A truly fascinating study of human nature's best vs. worst, with acknowledgement that faith in God is our ultimate foundation. I gratefully received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I am freely leaving my review. All opinions are solely my own responsibility.

Beyond Justice by Cara Putman is a legal suspense thriller. I was afraid that this would be another book full of legal talk but it wasn’t. Cara gave enough information so that you could follow the court proceedings but you were not overwhelmed. The suspense level was not very high as you were mainly trying to figure out who was hiding what, instead of a lot of action. Overall, I liked the book and would recommend it.

I received a free advance review e-copy of this book and have chosen of my own free will to post a review. This is a great politico-legal thriller focused on immigration, a major issue in this country today. ‘Beyond Justice’ is a very well-written thriller full of twists and turns with a complex plot and great character development. The action never quits with several twists and turns as the story progresses. There are secrets, lies, and cover-ups with corruption, violence, conspiracy, murder, and a drug cartel involved. Hayden, Emilie, and Andrew are strong characters full of spunk and willing to do whatever is necessary in order to obtain justice for the underdog. The author tells an intriguing story that is difficult to put down. I look forward to reading more from Cara Putman in the future. This is a keeper and well worth the read.

Cara Putman’s story has a plethora of various threads woven together to keep readers on the edge of their seats and turning pages. The action is fast-paced; the quest for justice and fighting evil is paramount. It isn’t easy to pinpoint the antagonist, but then again there might be more than one!A lawyer named Hayden McCarthy works for a major law firm. Hayden is given cases that seem impossible to win; yet, Hayden tends to do just what isn’t expect from the opposite side of the courtroom to win. The case that will make or break Hayden’s career could also come at the cost of life. When other get involved, more people turn up hurt or dead. Andrew Wesley is a congressman’s only heir. Andrew wants nothing to do with politics. In fact, when readers learn what he likes to do it is unexpected. Yet Andrew also works with a non-profit organization to help legal immigrants get acclimated to a new culture with all its nuances. Neither Hayden nor Andrew have any time for relationships, however, that could change.Cara brings into the story her vast knowledge of law, courtroom experience, and human nature along with faith to bring to life a most heart-gripping tale that I couldn’t put down! There were twists and turns when I least expected them along with characters that seemed to have multi-faceted agendas. As I went further and further into the tale, the more the author shared the heart and background of some of the players in her story. Some of the office politics between partners were filled with animosity or secrets that kept me wondering who was for justice and who was hiding what. I love how intense and focused Hayden could be and how Andrew honored his parents’ wishes, learning they did love him.I hope the author plans on writing more tales that are in the legal thriller/suspense genre as it seems an awfully good fit for her talents. I would like to thank NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the ARC of "Beyond Justice" by Cara C. Putman for my honest review.The genres of this book are Mystery, Thrillers and Fiction. There is a touch of romance as well. I like the way that Cara C. Putman describes the detention process for juvenile immigrants in the United States.Although this book is fiction, it makes me wonder how what does go on in juvenile detention centers, especially with immigration being a current topic. Hayden McCarthy is an attorney on the road for partnership in an important law firm. The partners assign her a case in which the client is a mother who wants to know why her immigrant son held in a detention center in Texas was murdered. The mother has been sent a picture of her dead son on her cell phone. Jorge, the mother's younger son is with her. Both the mother and Jorge are here with legal documentation. Why did the older son come here as an illegal immigrant? Hayden meets her roommate's cousin, Andrew who is the son of a famous politician. Andrew is involved in a local center for Immigration youth that provides programs for the children. Helping these children is important to Andrew. Jorge is one of the children who comes to his center. As Hayden gets more involved with the case, there are threats, people are getting hurt, there are break ins for information, and murders. Much of the evidence has disappeared in the Texas juvenile detention center, where Miguel had been killed. In this story, there are twists and turns and secrets. There is also adventure and excitement. I enjoyed this intriguing story and would recommend it!
