Beth K. Vogt

Beth K. Vogt is a nonfiction writer who said she’d never write fiction. After saying she’d never marry a doctor or anyone in the military, she is now happily married to a former Air Force family physician. Beth believes God’s best is often behind the door marked “never.” An established magazine writer and editor, she now writes inspirational contemporary romance because she believes there is more to happily ever after than the fairy tales tell us.

I found I could relate to Kendall and that made this book fly by for me. This love story is sweet and even though I figured that Kendall and Griffin would end up together in the end I had to keep reading to find out how they happened and how they got past their differences. Even though you know that Griffin is so guarded because from the moment he met her he liked her.

What’s on your summer reading list? Do you like a quick romance for those lazy days by the pool or the beach? If so, then pick up Beth Vogt’s second book, Catch A Falling Star, a novel that proves it is never too late to find love.Dr. Kendall Haynes has always put her career first, but has never ruled out love and marriage. It just has not come her way. But following yet another friend’s engagement and her sister’s insistence that the ring left by her grandmother will never be used unless Kendall gives it up, Kendall begins to question if love will ever be a part of her life. Griffin Walker has had a lot of loss in his life — his marriage, parents and now his career. Faced with the daunting task of raising his 16 year old brother, Griffin thinks single and alone are all that he is destined for. When the two meet it is definitely not love at first sight, but the feelings they have are quite undeniable.Catch A Falling Star is a realistic romance — the characters are set in their ways and there are plenty of obstacles and personality traits to overcome. Both characters must learn to trust each other and God with their futures and their hearts. There is a secondary plot that I really enjoyed as well, making this story feel very real. If you like a good contemporary romance with some interesting plot twists and realistic characters, I recommend you pick up Catch A Falling Star.Recommended.(Thanks to LitFuse for my copy of Catch A Falling Star. By: Beth K VogtPublished By: Howard BooksAge Recommended: AdultReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 5Book Blog For: GMTAReview: "Catch A Falling Star" by Beth K. Vogt was a very sweet contemporary Christian romantic story that I could not put down until the end. I loved the way this author brought in adoption. This was indeed a well thought out script. This "author did a great job showing that it wouldn't be easy and that rejection is part of the deal as the child heals over time." This was very well done. For the main part of this story we find Dr. Kendall Hayes who is 36 and unmarried. It seemed like all of her friend...Melissa, Sonia, and Rachel...all doctors were married but not Kendal...even her kid sister was getting engaged. Kendal was having a evening out with her friends and notices a young man who starts having a allergic reaction and she fines herself quickly responding. Now, this is where the story gets interesting and I will say you must pick up this read to see what happens next when Kendall learns that Griffin and Ian Walker are brothers who recently lost their parents. Kendall and Griffin will get off to a rock start but keep reading to see if this will lead to a road to romance for these two. In the end we will find out that life doesn't always go according to our plans. The characters were all well developed, 'vibrant, spunky, complex' and so real. Be ready for many conflicts that will only cause you to keep reading. Would I recommend "Catch A Falling Star?" YES!

This is a slow romance with little pockets full of action, a little mystery and a bad guy that fools you into thinking he just might be the good guy. (Or at least he starts to fool Kendall until things start to fall apart.) Griffin is our new Christian being forced to accept what he doesn't want to accept and as a Christian he is struggling with accepting that God has forgiven us and that it's time he forgives himself.I really liked the strength of Kendall's faith. Her prayers are rich and show a depth that only a strong, faithful Christian will have. She is obviously NOT a "baby" Christian. I loved how in moments of need she stopped and turned to her God to support her and encourage her. This part of the book is beautifully written and designed to teach without preaching and ideal for drawing someone who is questioning who God is to believers. If you would like a book that isn't 'deep' or perhaps need a gift for someone pick up this book. It's ideal for a rainy afternoon or even a day at the beach.I was given a copy of the book to read and review on GivingNSharing. I was not required to have a positive review and no money exchanged hands.

I enjoyed reading this sweet story. Things are not always as they appear. We are with Dr Kendall Hayes who is thirty-six, and not married. She thought she could have it all...a medical career, a husband, and children. She is at that point in life where it doesn't look like it is going to happen. She is again going to be a bridesmaid in her friends wedding. There is so much going on in Dr Hayes life, busy, busy. Her chance meeting with an old friend Dr Heath Parker, may put romance in the picture. He seems to be all that Kendall would want! She also stumbles upon, really, when she is at the restaurant with her friends, Ian Walker as he collapses and nearly dies. He is there with his brother Colonel Griffin Walker. We deal with some tough subject here, but God is in their lives. All they need to do is trust. There is also a side story here with one of Dr Kendall's office workers. She is trying to adopt a child, and things are not going well, but help comes from an unlikely source. We find things are not always as they appear, and we will root for hopefully the right people to come out on top! This is a great, fast, page turning read, and the only part I was disappointed in was....I wanted more!I received this book through Litfuse Bloggers Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.

I'd never read any of Beth Vogt's book before this one, but now, after reading To Catch a Falling Star, she is a favorite author of mine.Kendall Haynes is a 36 year old doctor in Colorado Spring, CO. Eating out with her friends one evening, she notices a young teenager choking after eating something he was allergic to. She administers treatment to him and meets his much older brother, Griffin Walker.Griffin is an Air Force pilot who's been taking off duty because of vertigo, and now he's been saddled with his adopted brother after both his parents are killed in an accident. Both Kendall and Griffin has issues in their lives that they have been struggling with, pain in their lives that just won't seem to go away. Their lives have not gone like they planned and now at their ages, 36 and 38, they don't know which route to take.God has plans for all His children, but how many times do we want to go our own way instead of allowing Him to take the lead? This book explores that premise.I laughed out loud, I bawled and I rejoice during the reading of this book. It blessed me so very much and I can't wait to read more of this author's books. I am a forever fan now. Do yourself a favor and get this book.I was provided with a copy of this book for free, which is no way influenced my review.

Kendall Haynes is a successful family doctor most especially helping kids with severe allergies. But at thirty-six she thought she would have not only her career but a husband and kids as well. Her life isn't turning out like the fairy-tales her grandmother used to read her. She knows God has a plan for her but she just can't figure out what that is. She's growing tired of the 'wish-I-may-wish-I-might' dreams. Griffin Walker is an Air Force pilot whose been grounded because of health. On top of that, he finds himself guardian of his teenage brother, Ian, because of the death of their parents. Griffin is overwhelmed with all that's going on in his life. To make matters worse, Griffin finds himself intrigued by the good Dr. Kendall. She's strong yet tenderhearted and different from any other woman he's ever known. But he sure isn't looking for love. He's planning on remaining single. Will Griffin and Kendall both learn that they may plan their way, but the Lord directs their steps. What do you do when your life isn't what you thought it would be? The author does a wonderful job of exploring that question in Catch a Falling Star. The title and the cover are great and perfectly depict the essence of the story. You are drawn into this delightful tale from the very first page and it holds you there until you find out how it ends. And I've got to tell you, it had an ending that I absolutely adored! You'll meet lots of great characters who will stay with you long after you close the book. I thoroughly enjoy Beth Vogt's writing style. It's clean and fresh like a springtime morning. I appreciated the reminder that sometimes we need to let go of what 'we' want to see what 'God' has for us. That's not always easy. So, grab a cup of coffee, have a seat on the back porch and Catch a Falling Star!
