About this audiobook

Her mom long gone, her father turned zombie, life just didn't turn out the way teen Dru Anderson thought it might. But then Dru's not your ordinary girl-a fact made all the more apparent by the discovery that she's got nonhuman blood coursing through her veins. Thrust into a school for teens of her particular (supernatural) calling, Dru finds herself surrounded by cute boys. Being the only girl in her class certainly has its advantages, but then, as always, there seems to be a problem. One of the boys is out to get her, and the lady killer in question means quite emphatically to see her dead. Lili St. Crow staked her place among writers of dark fantasy with the release of Strange Angels, the first book featuring night hunter Dru Anderson. Here teen Dru returns, a little wiser but still beset by supernatural terrors that would have most girls her age running for cover. What else would you expect for someone with nonhuman blood coursing through her veins? ". grabs readers by the throat, gets hearts beating loudly and never lets go,."-Kirkus Reviews

In this second book of the series, Dru has discovered that she is a special kind of female part-vampire. She has been placed in a special school where she should be safe, but someone has given away her location, and she is being hunted by the Nosferatu.

You thought the special girl meets vampire boy and werewolf boy storyline from the first book was too much? Well now its that, plus a secret boarding school for supernatural teenagers! Im enjoying the series, but Im not gonna pretend Ive found a classic here, Im just having a good time. :P

In this book in the Strange Angels series Dru and Graves are at Schola, but nothing is going the way Dru thought it would. Dru is very isolated because of both her sex and because no one seems to be training her. Christian has pretty much just dumped them there and while Graves is assimilating really well, Dru is just left in the cold. Eventually when it becomes clear that there is definitely a traitor high in the ranks Dru, Graves and some new friends are forced to flee.

Dru spends the first half of the book being extremely introspective, which is fine excpet that whenever she comes close to trying to deal with the things that have happened to her, she backs off. This kind of leaves Dru stuck in a rut.

Graves on the other hand is changing quite a bit, but since this seems to involve him spending less time with Dru and the story is told from Dru's point of view, we miss out on that character development as well.

There are some interesting new characters like Dibs and Shanks, I hope we see all of them develop further. About half way through the book really picks through and I can't wait to see what develops next. I don't want to spoil anything but trust me, the end picks up; the slow beginning is worth it.

So, i remember the review i wrote for the book previous to this one, Strange Angels, wasn't very good. Because i felt the first one fell flat.

This one though... oh, this one was fantastic!

I remember my big issue with Strange Angels was the dialogue... i didn't like it. But any problems i had with Strange Angels evaporated when i read Betrayals.

It was so good. I devoured it. The characters were awesome, i'm in love with the setting and fantasy elements. It was just a good book. Plain and simple.

Oh, and I'm totally Team Christophe. All the way. (This is me being my normal biased, i-don't-like-werewolves-much self. I just prefer the alternatives to werewolves... i don't like the alpha male type. lol)

So, Betrayals picks up right after Strange Angels left off with its cliffhanger ending. And i would definitely say you should read Strange Angels first. Although Dru's thought pattern goes in circles at times, she doesn't really do a whole lot of backtracking, so it's good to be familiar with what happened (yes, this was yet another instance of where i was struggling to remember what happened during the first chapter... though it only took me one chapter to recall everything ;)

And speaking of Dru's thought pattern. I loved it. Usually i have a difficult time connecting with characters in 1st person POV, but i really could connect with her. Because she had feelings, that's my issue with a lot of 1st person books, they tend to seem like they don't have real feelings. But Dru felt pain and obsessed about her father's death which is like a normal person would, and so i felt i could connect with her more than someone who, say, pondered her father's death for a while, cried about it A LOT. But then it seemed to just go away. (and yes i've read books that are like that and it confuses me...)

I felt a lot of hints of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy once again. Few people use the fun words like dhampirs and nosferatu. Which, frankly, is awesome because it makes them memorable than just another vampire book.

This book was just good, the action was good, the characters were good, the dialogue was good. it was all just really really good. (and that excites me. because i just put a book down after three pages because it was so painful to read. so i was very happy for a good book)

I can not WAIT for the next one now! I'm way excited.

Dru isn't having an easy time of it. Her dad is dead (and she's still having nightmares about that), she's part-vampire and rare and stuff is going to happen to her when she matures that's already messing with her head and her skills. To add to this her best friend Graves has been bitten by a werewolf, so at least she has him when she ends up at a secret school or Schola. However she's the only girl, at a school for troublesome teens, troublesome supernatural teens at that. It's an interesting read, but you do have to have read the first book in the series to get a lot of what is going on.

I love this series!!!! Graves is definitely my favorite character and I love how we get to watch him come out of his shell. I also like how we get to learn along with Dru about the Real World that she thought she knew but turned out to be much bigger and badder than she ever imagined. With death and mayhem every couple of chapters, it is definitely an action-packed ride that will draw you in and not let you go until the very last page.

I loved this book so much better than the first. I'm hoping that the love triangle will fully bloom in the 3rd. I was so happy with the end of this book compared to the last one that I'm sure I will be reading the next. You learn so much more about the characters pasts that lead them to where they are now

Picking up precisely where Strange Angels left off, the opening of the second installment finds Dru and Graves deposited unceremoniously on the doorstep of the Schola where they are supposedly to find training and assistance. Since this is a series, you probably already guessed that that doesn't happen. Dru continues to struggle with her memories and the physical manifestations of her half-vampire heritage. An action-packed sequel, but if you're looking for resolution, you won't find it here. Dark and dangerous, indeed!

I was so looking forward to this book. I was entirely captured by Dru, Graves and Christophe and I could not wait to see how the characters futures played out, though I was somewhat disappointed with this book.I don't often have difficulties understanding what is happening in the plot lines of stories, however, I must admit that I did have some difficulties fully understanding the plot lines of this story. I believe that what I had the most difficulties wrapping my head around was that throughout the book Dru was often drifting in and out of consciousness, therefore I found it somewhat hard to know what was actually happening occuring versus what was playing out in her head during these times. I had to read the ending a couple of times in order to fully grasp everything.Furthermore, I was somewhat disappointed with Dru. I feel like she was a much stronger character in the first novel, whereas in this novel she was a complete puddle. I can understand that if someone were to find out that their life is based on lies and what doesn't seem plausible (ie. zombies, vampires, etc.) becomes a real and everyday occurance, they would have difficulties handling and accepting it. However, Dru's day to day life was never quite normal before she learned of her true identity. She was quite aware of the Real World beforehand and therefore I expected her to kind of roll with the punches as she learned more about her self and her heritage, however during this novel I found that the more she learned about the Real World, the more she holed up in herself, almost fading away, becoming an entirely clique/ stereotypical girl, always crying and relying on the men in her life to look after her.Regardless, I really loved how the relationship of Dru and Graves played out and I loved the new introduced characters, Shank, Samuel, and so forth. I only wished that Christophe was more prevalent in the novel.

This was a really great follow-up to Strange Angels, the first in the Strange Angels Series. Now Dru is safe at the Schola, unfortunately for Dru, they've placed her in remedial survival classes. She's quiet unhappy about the situation, being forbid to lift even a finger, let alone practice sparring. Let's not forget that she's the only girl at the Schola, teachers included. When the Vamps start attacking it's a given that someone's let the cat out of the bag about her position. Next it's a harrowing escape and a run through the woods trying to get Dru to the main Schola in New York, where hopefully someone can help. There's a beginning of a love triangle in this book, which should play out more in the third book of the series, Jealousy, due out in July 2010. I'm very excited to see how the three main characters play out, and the role Dru will play at the main Schola. Being a very precious commodity doesn't seem to sit very well with her, and I can't wait to see how she handles the situation. The series just seems to get better and better and I highly recommend sticking your nose in it.

The sequel to Strange Angels, in which we meet Dru, a teenage hunter of things that go bump in the night. In this book, she and her friend Graves, who has just been bitten by a werewolf, have been sent to safety by Christophe. Christophe is a contact of her dead father and a half breed vampire, or djampir. The school they are sent to is a school for other teenage djampir and werwulfen, but the school is not as safe as it first appears. Someone within the Order is a traitor and is trying to kill Dru. I liked this book even better than the first one. It might be because as Dru learns more about what she calls the Real World, so does the reader. I feel like I have an idea of what's going on now, which is helpful for following a story. This one has a really good cliffhanger at the end, which makes me very eager to see the third book come out soon!

This was an excellant sequel to Strange Angels.Dru and Graves continue their journey (growing up and trying to stay "safe"). Dru and Graves are taken to a school for wayward wulfen and dhampirs. Things aren't what they expected. They're not sure who to trust. Dru isn't even sure if she can trust Christophe, the dhampir who helps her and Graves at during the last part of Strange Angels. There is some creepy/spooky stuff going on in this book. Dru is experiencing her own changes, as well as having to deal with the grief of losing her father, and all her other relatives. Graves is also going through changes, learning what being a loup-garou means.Lili St. Crow's writing is excellant, gritty and at the same time lyrical. I always enjoy her books. Her characters are full of proper teen angst (but too much) as teen agers are, and they are also being forced to grow up fast. What I like about Dru and Graves is they aren't perfect. They are two awkward, social misfit teens forced into extraordinary situations. They act up, feel rage, feel awkwardness - everything we would probably feel as awkward teens. Lili St. Crow has done a great job of capturing the spirit, rage, angst and awkwardness of strong willed teenager. Brings back memories of my teenhood.

Fast-paced, action-packed, full of mystery and hidden secrets, you won't be able to put that book down!Betrayals is the second engagement in the Strange Angels series and while I liked the first book, I LOVED the second book.First book ends when Dru gets to the Schola and the second books picks where we left off, Dru is in a Schola full of delinquent djamphir and wulfen teenage boys, and even though Christophe promised she would be safe there, something is wrong.Teachers won't let her learn fighting tactics, they won't teach her and explain her anything about the whole wulfen/djamphir/suckers/svetocha community and she finds it rather odd. This book is all about mysteries and lies, secrets from the past and.. betrayals =PI was really pleased with the characters in that book, Strange Angel kinda fell short for me in that department, but not this time around! Christopher is awesome, even though he isn't present very often he always makes a big impression. The wulfen and djamphir boys also have very interesting personalities, and different opinions and reactions toward Dru. Also Graves grows a lot in that book, he really isn't the skinny goth-boy anymore while Dru loose her tough girl facade to reveal a wounded and scared girl.I had a very hard time put the book down because you really want to know more, and even after finishing the book I still feel that way. My questions aren't answered and it's killing me!I want to know what's the entire deal with Christophe, how does he relate to Dru's mom? What's going on within the order? Why is Dru so special? Hopefully Jealousy (June 2010) will answer those questions!
