I’m enjoying the book, real good.

But as a South African I’m really struggling with the way the Narrator is mispronouncing our names. I might have to quit audio and pick up the book.

Enjoyed the book just not so much the narration due to the mispronunciation of names.

Stunning work, as a South African Black woman from Mamelodi I resonated with its authenticity. I also loved that even though Bontle ended up with some undesirable consequences, she was not doomed to a life of suffering; i.e it was not a moral tale. It was a balanced ending. I do think the reading should be done by a South African reader though, a lot is lost through the incorrect pronunciation of names and South African expressions and the accent. It is comforting that it is at least read by a Black woman from Africa.

What a lovely book, it was funny, educational and even made me cry. Well written. I wish the narrator was South African so she could read some of the words correctly but besides that it was good, very good ?
