- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book has a pretentiousness that was exacerbated by the narration, but it would be pretentious no matter. Specifically, it’s riddled with dreamy - and at times boorish - streams of consciousness that are too heavy handed to feel natural. Much of the dialogue is the same way.
I had trouble getting into it, and it never really goes anywhere. Even the ending - almost a non-ending- just kind of sits there, not doing anything. One could argue that the “story” is reflective of the underlying theme, but that doesn’t make it any more interesting or compelling.
If I were depicting this book in color, it would be beige.
