3.5 stars rounded up for the excellent narration. The story has a good pace to it and always keep the listener engaged.
This is my second book by the author and I will say her character development is MUCH better than it was in the throwaway children. The author does seem to have a thing with always having at least one character with a broken leg and a ‘stick’…
I will say there’s a bit of a mismatch between the title and the description… and one of the main characters, Maggie, has a strange shift in personality… almost to the point of being a plot hole type of a shift..
The rest of the story and characters are well developed and don’t suffer the same treatment by the author.
The backdrop of the war adds a layer of intensity without being overwhelming.
Had Maggie not had such a bizarre personality shift I would have throughly enjoyed the book.
