About this audiobook
The book that defined the cyberpunk movement, inspiring everything from The Matrix to Cyberpunk 2077.
The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel.
William Gibson revolutionised science fiction in his 1984 debut Neuromancer. The writer who gave us the matrix and coined the term 'cyberspace' produced a first novel that won the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards, and lit the fuse on the Cyberpunk movement.
More than three decades later, Gibson's text is as stylish as ever, his noir narrative still glitters like chrome in the shadows and his depictions of the rise and abuse of corporate power look more prescient every day. Part thriller, part warning, Neuromancer is a timeless classic of modern SF and one of the 20th century's most potent and compelling visions of the future.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A classic of the genre and it's easy to see why. The heritage of cyberpunk works that followed is clear, phrases like "deck" and "street samurai" along with other recognisable language and themes.
The central plot, questions of motivation and a sense of foreboding kept me going until the conclusion.
Recommended for fans of cyberpunk, dark fiction, and speculations on the potential of technology.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I found it unpleasant to listen to this audiobook since the imaginary world is dark and disturbing.
The narrative is also hard to follow. For example, the focus shifts from one thing to several others in quick succession so that it isn't clear what is being talked about or described. And lengthy descriptions get inserted between a character asking a question and another character answering it so that by the time the answer came I'd already forgotten what was being asked.
But I will say that I didn't even stick around for the end of chapter one, so, who knows, maybe it gets better later. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Dark and disturbing, full of drugs, sex, and violence. Plot not enough to finish the book.
