About this audiobook
With deep insight and disarming candor, Farrell describes his early years as a timid but restless teenager in West Hollywood, delivering groceries to the homes of Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Jimmy Stewart, and countless other celebrities, while dreaming of having his own career as an actor. In stark but riveting language, he relates his formative years as a Marine recruit—confused, conflicted, and eager to prove himself as a man. Farrell humorously portrays his professional development from a young soap opera player on Days of Our Lives to the amiable star of two popular television series, M"A"S"H and Providence, to the respected producer of successful motion pictures like Dominick and Eugene and Patch Adams.
At the heart of his story, Farrell narrates his public struggle to be a responsible citizen of the world. From his first-hand accounts of the ravages of war and oppression in Cambodia, El Salvador, Somalia, Bosnia, Rwanda, and the Gaza Strip, to his tireless advocacy against capital punishment, to his deep commitment to environmental causes, Farrell portrays each of these experiences with passion, outrage, and stubborn optimism.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A good man. A hero. So glad I read his book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I did not realize until reading this book how much of a political activist and globe-trotting badass Mike Farrell is. Wowzers. He certainly has lived a busy and bumpy life; being on M*A*S*H has only been a small slice of it. Having said that, he'll always be BJ to me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Mike Farrell describes his journeys as an actor and activist in this very readable autobiography. Some political issues...which include Central American wars...are somewhat dated while others, like the anti-capital punishment issue, are not. Those matters are informative. The acting path is described adequately. Recommended for MASH fans.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I had no idea Mike Farrell was the humanitarian for Justice and peace for such worthy causes. I too support these causes and like Mike was forced to confront the misuse of power by politicians.
The difference between Mike and I is that he walked the talked… I was an activist but not engaged as he was. This booked made me feel hope, despair, disgust, anger, disappointment in our political system in particular… but I regained Hope. We can never give up on humanity. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5He is a great storyteller. I could not put it down Thanks Steve
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Thank you Mike for getting me to believe not everyone in Hollywood only understands part of the causes they champion. Your selfless, lifelong (long enough) pursuit to help ALL people in need, everywhere is astonishing! I could go in for quite some time about this but your recap of what others thought about the book at the end sums it up great! Thank you ? Sir!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Activist?? Actor?? He’s as Deep State as it gets!! Are you intoPedophilia and child sex trafficking like the rest of your fellow actors and politico buddies?? My guess would be YES!
