About this audiobook
When Mary Lennox is sent to Misselthwaite Manor to live with her uncle everybody says she is the most disagreeable-looking child ever seen. It is true, too. Mary is pale, spoilt and quite contrary. But she is also horribly lonely. Then one day she hears about a garden in the grounds of the Manor that has been kept locked and hidden for years. And when a friendly robin helps Mary find the key, she discovers the most magical place anyone could imagine…
Frances Hodgson Burnett
Francis Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) was a novelist and playwright born in England but raised in the United States. As a child, she was an avid reader who also wrote her own stories. What was initially a hobby would soon become a legitimate and respected career. As a late-teen, she published her first story in Godey's Lady's Book and was a regular contributor to several periodicals. She began producing novels starting with That Lass o’ Lowrie’s followed by Haworth’s and Louisiana. Yet, she was best known for her children’s books including Little Lord Fauntleroy and The Secret Garden.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/55 stars for the narrator, but 3 for the novel overall. I enjoyed the Yorkshire accent and the music at the beginning of each chapter, the voice was pleasing and clear.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Heads up: Chapter 28 is a repeat of Chapter 16. Luckily for me it was a reread from when I was a child.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5While there is some problematic language given the time it was written in and about the story is a masterclass in evocative writing and storytelling. The narrator was brilliant in portraying the different characters.
