About this audiobook
A woman goes missing, sending a young nuclear engineer on a quest deep into the Judean desert to the legendary fortress of Masada, where secrets are concealed.
When a young Israeli woman suddenly goes missing, her boyfriend, an American nuclear engineer, suspects her disappearance is connected to her tantalizing theory about the haunting fortress of Masada. He decides to travel to Herod’s 2000 year old mountain fortress to see if her theory was right. There, he makes a discovery so astonishing that forces from the dark side of Israeli intelligence begin to converge on him to deflect his pursuit of the truth by any means necessary. With the aid of a beautiful Israeli archaeologist, he struggles to bring to light the treasures he believes are concealed in the mountain, unaware that there is a dangerous contemporary secret at stake.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Historically accurate - to a point - a moving adventure of discovery, surprise, and some really awful bad guys that get punished with prejudice! This audio book had me hanging at each sentence for the next step in a wild adventure! Couldnt put it down!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A former nuclear engineer, David Hall, believes that Masada, an ancient historical site in Israel, hides a treasure of immense historical value and he’s determined to find it. What he doesn’t know is that Masada also holds a modern secret that could threaten regional stability. After months of bureaucratic intransigence he’s finally given permission to visit the holy site, but he’s not allowed to dig. David Hall’s desire to violate this limitation sets the story in motion, including being assigned a beautiful, yet troubled minder for the visit to Masada and stirs fear among certain elements of the Israeli security apparatus. The pace is steady and for good reason. Mr. Deutermann allows the tale and the primary characters to propel the story, not explosive action. It is a well told and well written and worthy of any reader who likes to dabble in historical fiction, enjoys a good mystery or is enthralled with Israeli history.Does the boy get the girl and are all Masada’s secrets revealed? You’ll have to read it to find out.
