Reviews for The Runaway Dolls

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What happens at your house when your on vacation. In this book the dolls party. The main character decides to runway into the big outdoors to save her little sister from being returned to the doll maker. (a little complicated here) She and her friends end up in a department story and have to figure out how to get out and home. Wheww!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Palmer's are on a two week vacation and the dolls have the run of the house. Just before they left a parcel arrived and was thrown on the couch. Annabelle and Tiffany examine it only to find that it is Annabelle's long lost little sister. However, the adults believe no such thing so Annabelle decides to let her sister out and runaway to protect her from disappearing again and, of course, Tiffany comes along. Little do the girls know that their brothers have been spying on them and follow them. Thus begins a wild adventure for the dolls as they get lost in the woods, hitch a ride on a wagon, end up downtown and eventually in the toy department of a large department store. This is the most exciting of the three books. The dolls find themselves in one spot of trouble after another and the characters are just adorable. This book is so much fun to read. Again, the illustrations are half of the enjoyment of the book. Selznick's illustrations are gorgeous and this book starts with a several page long illustrative wordless narrative similar to parts of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I highly recommend this series to young girls (and their mothers!).
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Narrated by Lynn Redgrave. As entertaining and adventure-filled as the first two Doll People titles. As one of those kids who acted out elaborate stories with my dolls, I appreciated the Dolls' and Funcrafts' many adventures and the strict doll code by which they live.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book three of a great and fun story!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What a very cute continuation of the tales of Doll and Funcraft families. After finding the long lost baby doll for the Doll family, Annabelle and Tiffany runaway because they fell that they must protect Tillie Mae. The adventures that hey encounter as well as their creative solutions to their problems kept this reader entertained thoroughly.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is about Annabel and Tiffany(two dolls) who find their long lost sister. They ask Annabel's parents if they can keep her and they say no because they already had a baby sister to replace her so they run away. They go on lots of adventures and have lots of surprises like their little brothers tagging along. When they go back home, their parents finally say yes, so they put Anabel's baby sister back in the box and wrap her back up for their owners to open. I like this book because it makes dolls come to life and has creativity and it shows what dolls do and how they live.
