HARD-TO-REACH DIAMOND
I am a member of Asiana Club and last year decided to consolidate and channel all my business class frequent travel on Star Alliance airlines to be credited to my Asiana Club account. My objective was motivated by Asiana Airlines’ website statement that the requirement for Diamond member qualification includes the condition to meet 40,000 miles accrued on Asiana Airlines and Star Alliance flights during a 24-month period.
I met this requirement within six months, but my Asiana Club status did not change. When seeking clarification from Asiana Airlines, I was informed that the condition commences from a base date (which is when I achieved Gold member status). This is completely misleading because I met the required miles within the prescribed period to reach Diamond member status, so resetting and not considering miles earned to reach the intermediate Gold member status is illogical, confusing and misleading based on the information published
