BEHIND THE QUILT
SPRING-THEMED AND SCRAPPY!
“This quilt uses a variety of techniques to create a fresh Spring feel. The baskets are made of half-square triangles, combined with bias tape for the handles. The Dresden Plates are machine appliquéd to the background and the bias tape sections (stems and basket handles) can be machine or hand sewn down. The flowers and leaves are all raw-edge appliquéd, but you could just as easily use the templates and make the quilt using traditional needle-turn appliqué. The whole quilt is made on point so that the flower baskets sit vertically on the finished quilt. This quilt is perfect for using up all sorts of brightly coloured scraps for the Dresdens and flower heads, with the fabrics in the baskets and the stems and leaves pulling together any scrappy colour scheme.” – Lynne Goldsworthy
