Choosing Colors With Confidence

Hello to all my fellow quilters! I'm writing this article to inspire you! Inspiration must happen before one piece of fabric gets touched, and before the first stitch is sewn. Inspiration is that spark that ignites our desire to create.

Today my goal is to help you feel inspired to use your stash and scraps. I will do this by showing you how I have organized my stash and how I picked out my fabrics for Swimming Upstream on page 12.

One of the greatest experiences I have had with inspiration regarding quilting has been to organize my stash and start accumulating neatly organized “scraps.” I am a quilt pattern designer and I have always worked with precuts. Precuts are, as advertised, precut and color coordinated bundles of fabric. These worked for me because I never had any confidence in my own color choices.
