TALENT and skill, wonderful horses and enviable facilities are just some of the things top riders have in common – another one is a ful mindset.
But while some people might turally talented, creating a winning mindset takes work, e honing a new skill or aining a horse through the vels. And once this mentality tered, riders then need to be able to apply this afted perspective at titions on command.
International grand prix dressage rider Abi Lyle says she has worked hard on her attitude.
“I’m an anxious person, and if anything I’m going to try too hard at competitions, so I need to be zenned out, and as calm as possible,” she says, adding that she did a lot of mindset work ahead of London International in December.
“I focused on what I wanted to achieve; showing a good harmony between me and my horse, and showing off our training.”
