“Ilove having colour in my garden and in my home. This, combined with our extremely hot summers, informed my plant choices and the layout of my garden,” says Charlene.

“I knew exactly what I wanted to plant, and where. A garden with lavender and roses near our bedroom was a must, and I wanted an organic vegetable and herb garden, as well as an orchard that included peach, plum and apricot trees. I find water very calming so I wanted to install water features in the various garden rooms and to have enough seating areas where we can relax.”

The Louws moved into this development on a Wellington wine estate in August 2018 and Charlene started the garden in January 2019.
