Rooms from front to back

Welcome!

The front garden’s manicured lawn and beds are framed by Japanese privet (Ligustrum ibota) hedges. The beds are filled with white ‘Iceberg’ roses and pale-yellow irises. Hanelie specifically chose privet as it is evergreen, to ensure that the hedges still look good throughout winter.

“The ‘Iceberg’ roses are stalwarts,” she says. “They thrive in Potchefstroom and bloom for long periods of time. A friend of mine once said if your husband often works late, plant white ‘Icebergs’ as they stand out even at night and will always welcome him home.”

‘Eden Rose’ with its fragrant soft pink blooms adorn the rose arches connecting the front garden to the rose garden.

The shady front garden is located on the other side of the delicious monster agapanthus and hydrangea. Hanelie and Johan enjoy sitting on the bench under the trees in the evenings.
