In a world where empowerment and equality are gaining momentum, women are increasingly taking charge of their lives, careers and future. However, one area where many still find themselves grappling is financial independence, according to a survey by financial institution Debtsafe, titled South African Consumers’ Financial Reality (2022). The survey found that the main debt obligations women had included retail store cards, personal/student/consolidation loans as well as credit cards/overdrafts.
