TESTED 2017 Auto-Sleeper Kingham

2017 AUTO-SLEEPER KINGHAM

Just under four years, 22,000 miles and nearly 400 nights later, we still love our Auto-Sleeper Kingham. There are a few things that niggle, but overall it meets our needs very nicely.

We are an ‘economically inactive’ couple who both worked in the outdoors and still enjoy being outside and active; mainly hiking, cycling, kayaking. We had it all planned out we would both finish work in March 2020 and head off to Europe for one long trip before Brexit travel restrictions kicked in.

However, Covid had other ideas and, two days later, we were in the first lockdown and the best we could do was tea and cake under the awning in front of the house. Since then, we have undertaken some smaller trips in the UK and four long trips in Europe.

We started our ‘Van buying homework in 2019. Neither of us had any vanlife experience so we really were starting at the beginning.

We spoke to friends with ‘Vans and visited a number of dealerships to sit, stand and lie down in all sizes. We knew we wanted something we could comfortably live in for up to four months at a time, but also that was small enough to get off the beaten track on small roads and stay off-grid.
