APPLIQUÉ AND PIECED PROJECT
BEHIND THE QUILT
LESSONS FROM 2020
“The lovely cosy Moda fabric called Redwork Gatherings, by Primitive Gatherings, was the inspiration for the Charlie’s Winter Wonderland quilt. This quilt was also largely inspired by 2020, which was a rather horrible year for everyone. However, one important thing that the pandemic highlighted is how much we all need to show love and respect to each other and the environment, which is so precious and very fragile. It may just be my imagination, but I’m sure there were far more birds in the sky due to less air pollution, and more green moss. The lockdown also meant that we weren’t able to travel to see our loved ones, so I decided to bring them to me through this quilt. Friends helped me to finish the quilt quickly, so it feels very special.” – Jo Colwill
