Our Adria Sonic is the fourth ‘van we’ve owned and it’s definitely our favourite, and not just because it’s now our home! We didn’t end up with this ’van by chance, though, a lot of research and trial and error went into it.
Our motorhoming journey started in 2014 with a VW T4 I bought from a family member. We were keen mountain bikers and wanted something we could take the bikes out in, have lunch in and get changed in.
It had a DIY conversion and needed some TLC but we loved it. We spent time getting the T4 renovated and used it to attend mountain bike and motorsport events. It gave us a taster of the flexibility a ‘van can offer and how that fitted in with our hobbies.
Soon we wanted to try a holiday. We went to Scotland, stopping off in the Lake District on the way. That trip was fantastic, but we realised we wanted more from the ‘van. It rained the entire time we were in Scotland, which proved difficult to navigate in a ‘van with no pop-top, no heating and no washroom. Especially being pitched in the far corner of the site!
We had another trip planned to the Netherlands, which was great. But it confirmed that we needed to change the ‘van.
