FORTY-EIGHT-AND-A-HALF-THOUSAND different colours! I wasn’t aware that many colours existed, let alone just in the world of motorcycles. Just try getting to 100. Still, that’s how many different tones, shades and variations RS paint has, for all motorcycles, from Adler through to Zundapp.

“We haven’t got them all,” smiles Heidi Allen, daughter of Arthur Bancroft, who now runs the business with husband Phil. “We may be asked for the frame colour for, say, a 1976 BMW R80. If we don’t currently have it we’ll set a line on our database, then when we do get a chance to see the colour and match it, we can add it to the list,” explains Phil.
