How can I lighten the gift-buying load?

Q Before we were married, I used to buy my own gifts and cards for my husband’s family, both at Christmas and on birthdays. Now, we get presents that are from both of us, but my husband doesn’t help me or get involved. The whole load of gifting for my husband’s family (and my own!) now lands on me.
