'One day, we encountered a white man named Scott. He claimed we were stealing his mussels and reported us to the police. The police began waiting for us in the forest. Then one day, while we were harvesting, we realised they were surrounding us. We couldnʼt believe we were being arrested. When I was apprehended, I asked someone to look after one of my children who was in school. My second child was arrested with me. One of the women whom I was arrested with was caught with her belongings at the beach. She remained in prison. I was released.
