Best ever gingerbread

Crisp and strong, this simple recipe is the only one you'll need for all your gingerbread crafts.

MAKES ABOUT 16-20 GINGERBREAD BISCUITS

PREP 10 MINS, PLUS CHILLING

COOK 10-12 MINS

100g salted butter
3tbsp golden syrup
50g dark muscovado sugar
50g light muscovado sugar
● ¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
1tbsp ground ginger
1tsp ground mixed spice
225g plain flour

YOU WILL NEED:

Festive cookie cutters (optional)

1 Melt the butter, golden syrup and both sugars in a large pan over medium heat, stirring until smooth. Sift in the remaining ingredients, then mix to form a soft dough.

Flatten the dough into a disk and wrap well in cling film. Chill for at least 1 hr
