The Maginificent Seven

(1939 – 2000) was named after a legendary priest-king of ancient Africa and was a peace-loving elephant primarily spotted around Shingwedzi. In 1982, he was attacked by poachers with AK-47s but luckily survived. However, in 1984, during a fight with another elephant bull, Joao broke off both tusks and the ivory was never found. He is believed to have died of natural causes by 2000.
