YOUR DNA WORKSHOP

TAMMY WRITES:

Dear Karen I have always known I was donor conceived. My father was left infertile after contracting mumps as a young adult and when my parents married, they always knew that having a family was going to be by another route.

I have always thought of the wonderful man who brought me up as my real dad but as time has gone on, I have become more curious about the sperm donor.

I don’t need to know exactly who he is but am interested to find out about my paternal line.

To this end I took an Ancestry DNA test and was wondering if you could help me interpret my results? Thank you very much in anticipation.

KAREN REPLIES:

I spent a while chatting with Tammy, finding out about her expectations and thoughts about this major step. She is interested in finding out what her DNA tells her about the sperm donor’s family.
