TOP-NOTCH TIPS FOR BETTER SHOOTING
I was extremely impressed with Michael Yardley’s 10 commandments [From average to expert, November issue]. I thought I might add three more, which may or may not help. First, never say you have shot badly, as most of the other guns will not have noticed and there is every chance you will shoot better at the next drive. Most people don’t come back from a drive telling everyone how well they have shot, so why mention when you haven’t shot as well as you would have liked?
Secondly, if you have shot well and one of the other guns compliments you, just say thank you, as you would if you hit a good golf shot or crisp tennis volley. Too often the person praised will say, “Well I should have shot a few more,” leaving people thinking perhaps he or she didn’t shoot as well as they thought.
