Peppermint Swirls

MAKES ABOUT 25

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1¼ cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon red liquid food coloring*
¼ cup crushed peppermint candy canes
½ cup holiday sprinkles

1. In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat butter and sugar with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes, stopping to scrape sides of bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extract.
