BREAST CANCER CRISIS IN SSA?

reast cancer is the most common cause of global cancer-related deaths in women and a in 2021. According to 2020 GLOBOCAN data; 186,598 breast cancer cases were reported in Africa with 85,787 related deaths that year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in SSA, preventing and treating breast cancer is a pressing public health issue. Breast cancer survival rates five years after diagnosis stand at a dismal 40% in SSA – compared to over 90% in most high-income countries. A large part of the problem is patients not receiving timely diagnosis.
