During this year’s 3 Days of Design, Denmark’s annual design festival, Copenhagen-based studio Tableau unveiledthe foundation’s archives, where he not only had access to the spatial colour interventions that the artist was well-known for, but also discovered less-documented functional artworks. Originally designed by Gernes in the 1980s but never produced, the lamp is defined by a sheet of aluminium, sliced and bent by hand to create the shape of a flower, a fitting offering from a studio that focused on floral compositions before branching out into design.
