Letter of the week

Lovely lurchers

AS the owner past and present of lurchers, greyhounds and longdogs, I was thrilled to see lurchers on the cover recently (‘There’s something regal about them’, July 26).

Thieving Enzo the lurcher was highly commended in COUNTRY LIFE’s naughtiest-dog competition, but please don’t let that put anyone off rescuing one of these cheeky, funny, loyal and beautiful hounds. Management is a key skill with them for sure. Thank you for highlighting them as a dog to consider.

On a more serious note, there are so many in rescue, bred for the outdated hare-coursing world, so do consider adopting not shopping, as the article highlighted. Nicky Spensley, Kent
