BIG BROTHER IS BACK
Love it or hate it, the show was iconic…
This is Davina, please do not swear…’ If that isn’t enough to provoke shudders of strong emotion then you probably need to check your pulse.
Because whether you loved it or loathed it, Big Brother is still one the most popular reality TV series ever to appear on British tellies. At its peak an average of 5.89 million of us tuned in to C4 to watch a bunch of unknown and, more importantly, unknowing strangers locked up together in a brightly coloured house where cameras followed every move.
Even though you probably hated yourself, it was addictive. And unlike the way too self-aware these days, those going into the original few series of, presented by a then relatively unknown Davina McCall, were innocent of what was going on. It was a genuine social experiment.
