Chocolate hazelnut squares

SERVES 12 PREP + COOK TIME 40 MINUTES

2 cups (200g) ground hazelnuts
185g butter, softened
1 cup (220g) caster sugar
4 eggs
¼ cup (35g) plain flour
300g milk or dark (45% cocoa) eating chocolate, chopped coarsely
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
roasted hazelnuts, for serving

1 Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Place the ground hazelnuts on an oven tray, bake for 10 minutes or until fragrant; cool.

2 Grease base and sides of a 20cm x 30cm slice pan. Line base and two long sides with a strip of baking paper, extending paper 2cm above the edge of the pan.
