My old Cotton
I just thought that I would comment on the article ‘Sketchbook Travels’ by Martin Squires in the June issue. The Cotton sprinter was of particular interest because I built the bike in 1988/89, and can fill in some of the gaps in its history.
I had always fancied a flat tank Cotton, but being a poor engineer, I couldn’t afford to buy something up and running, so when I was offered a frame, I thought that maybe I could build one.
The frame came with some history; apparently it had been used for sprinting in the 1950s, and had been built up with Bantam forks and was running with a 350cc speedway JAP motor.
