Thank you for the excellent, indeed, truly great, article on the late Frank Dolman. Outstanding journalism, readable and well researched.

It was the reply from Richard ‘Screaming Deeks’ (April issue) following the question if they could be heard in Liverpool which caught my attention. Let’s remember that ‘noise is energy and energy cannot be destroyed.’

I have heard a recording of a DKW being fired up and it is simply frightening. A sharp high-pitched, irregular and unbearable sound. I do not know if these could be heard in Liverpool and do not challenge Richard’s view. However, allow me to mention something my grandmother told me, supported by her sister:
