■ 1 tsp almond essence
■ 1 egg, at room temperature
■ 1 cup plain flour
■ ½ cup self-raising flour
■ ¹⁄³ cup almond meal
■ ¹⁄³ cup flaked almonds
■ Icing sugar mixture, to serve
