Only man to compete on his own motorcycle

A great article and picture in last month’s From Our Archive feature, but you say that Howard Davies was the only person to compete on a motorcycle he made himself. I always thought that Helmut Fath also competed in the TT on his URS bike. Did he not build it himself, or was it just the motor that he made? Paul Ballantyne
