Sawan fest: 58 days of devotion
According to Hindu scriptures, there are four holy months in the year. Together these are called “Chaturamas”.
It starts with “Shravan” and it ends with the “Kartik” month. The month of “Shravan” is popularly known as “Sawan” and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The festival of Sawan or Shravan begins on July 4 and continues until August 30. This year is extra special because of a rare occurrence that is happening after 19 years. It will span a duration of 58 days, which is longer than the usual duration. Additionally, there will be eight Sawan Mondays instead of the usual four observed each year.
